2014 SOLSTICE SHEDS LIGHT ON THE GIFTED ARTIST AT VYT!
What better way to spend the longest day in summer than to take a trip to Rockland County home to the historic Vaclav Vytlacil and it’s Artist In Residence program.
My discover of some very gifted artist started with a wine toast to the Summer of 2014 with Gary L. Sussman, Director of the Art Students League’s Vytlacil Campus here in the Elizabeth V. Sullivan Gallery. Here, I was able to view the latest work of my wonderful friend, Naomi Campbell. The show was entitled “SPAWNING: conversations that go on with the virtual identity” curated by Susanne Karbin and G.L. Sussman. This exhibit truly showed the range of Naomi’s artistic expression in her reflection on our advanced technological society and it’s affects on our psyche.
I’m thrilled to also present the work of six uniquely different artist that I was able to spend some time with in discussion of their passion.
“Kristian’s skilled use of graphite and oils produces photo like images that are so real they jump off the paper and the canvas!”
“Char weaves a whole new meaning to the concept of ‘Green’ and her potpourri of artistic expression brings new awareness to the vulnerability of our precious environment!”
“Shivani invites use on a poetic journey of exploration into the artistic process. Organically, she reveals the connection of the artist to their environment and our connection to that partnership.”
Artist and Art Consultant
“I can sum up Steve’s latest work in three words, a kaleidoscope of color! The way he dissects the celebration of his travels and the cultures therein is sheer genius!”
Artist and Educator
“This award winning Jersey born artist blurs the lines between sculpting, painting, and drawing in his acute vision of the human anatomy!”
LEO VAN VELZEN
“Leo shows us the power of consciously letting go in his concerto of color, the movement, the form, and the manifestation of the beauty of balance. His paintings are a reflection of his gained insight, feelings, and communication.”
